About Me

“Exellence in education is when we do everything we can to make sure that they become everything that they can.”
Carol Ann Tomlinson
With 34 years of extensive experience in English language teaching, I have enjoyed a varied and influential career as a teacher, textbook author, teacher educator, and director. My journey began with a BA in Foreign Language Education from the Middle East Technical University, followed by an MSc in Educational Sciences from the same institution.
Throughout my career, I have had the privilege to contribute my expertise to renowned institutions such as Bilkent University, BaÅŸkent University, TOBB University of Economics & Technology, and the Turkish Education Association (TED) Headquarters. At these institutions, I've played key roles in teacher training and development, curriculum design and evaluation, materials development, educational leadership, and consultancy.
My professional involvement extends beyond the classroom and includes various roles in national and international professional organizations such as Ä°NGED (ELEA - English Language Education Association), IATEFL, and TESOL Türkiye. I have been actively involved in projects focusing on teacher training, teacher research, trainer development, and leadership, contributing to the advancement of English language teaching in Türkiye.
I am passionate about continuous learning and have presented at numerous conferences and published articles and book chapters ranging from teacher development and classroom practice to the integration of technology in education. My interests include traveling, exploring different cultures, reading, and promoting personal growth through lifelong learning.
To enhance my expertise, I have pursued various professional development opportunities, including:
December 2022: Online course on Mindfulness Training from BaÅŸkent University Education & Consulting Center
July 2020: Distinction in Management in Language Education Course from Norwich Institute for Language Education (NILE)
1995: Summer School at Reading University on Materials Production and Development, England
1991: COTE (Cambridge University Courses for Overseas Teachers of English) from Bilkent University
From 2024, after this rich and varied experience in the field of English language teaching, I have chosen to work as a freelance educator and consultant. My passion for the profession, combined with my love of working with diverse groups of teachers, leaders, and all those involved in language education, is the driving force behind this decision. I take great pleasure in working with people from different backgrounds and levels, from young learners to adult students. I believe this new phase will allow me to continue to make a positive impact, share my expertise, and learn from the unique perspectives of each person I work with.
